first_imgFollowing the release of his 31st studio album Hey Clockface last month, Elvis Costello went back into the archives and put a fresh look on one of his most celebrated hits with a new video for “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding?”. Shared over the weekend, the video comes as part of Costello’s massive Armed Forces box set which arrived on November 6th.The Complete Armed Forces takes a look back at the pub-rocker/proto-punker’s 1979 seminal album. Featuring such coveted hits as “Peace, Love & Understanding”, “Accidents Will Happen”, “Oliver’s Army”, and more, the record cemented Costello as a dominant voice in the future of the punk/new wave movement. On the deluxe reissue, fans received a bevy of demos, outtakes, and 23 live tracks recorded at The Reagent Theatre, Hollywood High, The Dominion Theatre, and more throughout 1978—1979.Related: Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten Reportedly Bitten On His Genitals By Fleas After Befriending SquirrelsIn the new video, Costello takes an animated approach whose artistic stylings mimic that of the album’s splatter paint cover. The artwork was created by Costello himself as well as late graphic designer Barney Bubbles, featuring animations taken from Costello’s most recent tour prior to the pandemic. Between the graffiti, archival WWI photographs, and Costello’s vintage lyricism, the new video for “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding?” is a reminder that the struggle for peace is everlasting and stretches back from today’s struggles through those of 1979 and beyond.Watch the new music video for Elvis Costello & The Attraction’s (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding?”. first_imgNigeria coach Gernot Rohr says his team will be happy to welcome John Obi Mikel back and hopes the Super Eagles captain can help the 3-time champions win a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt in July. The 31-year-old, who is yet to feature for Nigeria since the 2018 World Cup in Russia, last month, completed a short-term move to English Championship side, Middlesbrough after terminating his contract with Chinese topflight outfit, Tianjin Teda.“Oh, we are very happy that our captain (Mikel Obi) is now in a good club (Middlesbrough) and I hope that he will play very often to find the rhythm again,” the former Burkina Faso and Gabon coach said.“We will be watching him; we always stay in contact with all our players, and of course, with him also.”However, Rohr maintained that Mikel would have to be ‘very fit’ and ‘playing well’ for Boro to make a return to the Eagles.“He has to be very fit but I think he will work on it. And if he is playing well for the club, it is like that for the other players who want to play with us; who have the motivation to come with us, they have to do well in the club, and then there is a chance to comeback.“We would be happy to see him back, and I think it could be a wonderful dream for Obi Mikel to come and to win the AFCON with Nigeria,” the 65-year-old concluded.Nigeria will know their 2019 AFCON foes on 12 April when the draws for the competition will be staged in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.Mikel is expected back in the team ahead of next month’s dead-rubber AFCON qualifying fixture against Seychelles and an international friendly match with Egypt both in Asaba, Delta StateRelatedMikel Can Return For AFCON 2019 – RohrNovember 23, 2018In “National Team”INSIDE AFCON 2019: Rohr Begins Search For Mikel Obi’s Replacement in Super Eagles SquadJuly 17, 2019In “AFCON”AFCON 2019: Gernot Rohr Praises Mikel’s Commitment to the Super EaglesJune 6, 2019In “AFCON”last_img read more
