No red lipstick for Turkish Airlines crew

Turkish Airlines has received backlash from a number of females after banning its hostesses from wearing bright coloured lipsticks – including red and pink. The move, announced overnight, is the latest in a series of conservative changes to the airline’s policies and has been dubbed as an attempt by the government to “Islamise” the country, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.Unhappy with the decision, women have taken to social media to oppose the change, posting pictures of themselves with red lipstick.”This measure is an act of perversion,” Opposition Party CHP vice president Gursel Tekin said.”How else could you describe it?”However, Turkish Airlines said the change was to encourage its staff to wear “simple make-up, immaculate and in pastel colours”.Earlier this year, the airline stopped serving alcohol on internal flights as well as proposed new ankle-length dresses and Ottoman-style caps.Source = e-Travel Blackboard: NJ Turkish Airlines bans bright lipsticks.
